April Meeting - Westerville's SmartGrid Pilot
Our speakers for the month of April will be Andrew Boatright, Westerville Electric
Utility Manager and Don Hall, Watts Works, Inc. They will talk about the launch
of the SmartGrid and Solar Power for Public Power Utility Consumers pilot project:
Partially funded by a grant from the American Public Power Association Demonstration
of Energy Efficient Developments (APPA DEED), the project will implement seven energy
management appliances coupled with seven 3.5kW solar arrays for the purpose of giving
the utility and the consumer the ability to optimally dispatch the sun's energy thereby
avoiding having the purchase the highest-cost power from the grid. Westerville will be
installing the SmartGrid and solar power equipment on six commercial sites and one
residential site.
Note: We will be meeting at the Westerville Electric Division in the
Conference Room. (Sustainable Westerville generally has public events the 4th
Thursday of the month at the Otterbein College Library.)
Date/Time: Thursday, April 23@ 7:00PM-8:30PM
Location: Westerville Electric Division, 139 East Broadway Avenue
